creativity hiatus

Oh my, it feels like forever since I have gotten my hands *dirty* and had time or energy to fulfill my creative desires. I wish I had something new to post about... but alas, I have not.

I have so many ideas, fresh and old, running through my mind - home decor, sewing, knitting, etc. But life dishes us sometimes what we cannot handle while trying to fit other things into it. So right now we are surviving on the essentials and the *extra* joys must be set aside.

I'll be back one day, hopefully sooner than later. Cheers!

Meet the sisters

Like I said before, I couldn't help myself, I just had to make more dolls. When we went to visit our friends in Arizona, I knew exactly what I wanted to do for their girls.

So... meet the sisters - Canos, Georgie and Sophie

These girls are so special to us, there are not words to describe it - so alike, yet so different, but all beautiful.

Meet the girls

When I found out I was going to have two new nieces born, I thought and thought about what I wanted to make for them. It hit me like a ton of bricks, every little girl needs her own doll - and she had better look like her!

So I set out to find the perfect pattern, I suppose I could have made it up myself, but this seemed like a better idea. I found it on Etsy, a company called Bit of Whimsy and I set out to make the girls.

Meet Elli

and say hello to Alice

Their faces are hand embroidered, their hair is 100% wool felt, their bodies are made from broadcloth and their dresses and shirts are made from top of the line designer fabric, these dolls are stuffed with all natural wool stuffing. Every seam is double-stitched for durability, because these babies are meant to be played with, meant to be snuggled and loved. And if they fall apart with love (like Owen's bear - oh my that little guy is looking atrocious) then auntie can just whip them up a look alike and hope they won't notice the difference ;).

So here's where you come in... the designer of the pattern offers a cottage license to make and sell these beautiful dolls using her pattern. There are strict rules as to how many can be for sale at a time so it wouldn't be a major money maker. But I had such fun designing these sweet dolls that I just couldn't stop (which is why you will meet the sisters next week), and I think I would find great joy in making them for others as well. So leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Welcome!

This is my new space to share creations, ideas, and photography, not related to my family, and whatever else that suits my fancy.

I love to sew, knit and take photos - so here it all is in one tidy place.
